As always with OLLI trips, you learn something new every day. This is no different as we go to beautiful Door County, WI. Our adventure highlights include: a visit to the Pine Cone Ridge Alpaca breeding ranch outside Sauk Centre, MN; a tour of the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center and nearby marsh (the exact same marsh featured in the Ocean Spray Cranberry commercials!); 2 nights at the beautiful Rowleys Bay Resort in upper Door County that includes the storytelling of their famous fish boil (as well as enjoying the fish!), and 2 extensive breakfasts at their 14 foot buffet table; attending a play under the stars in a fragrant cedar forest overlooking the waters of Green Bay; maritime and light house museum tours; a tour of Lambeau Field and lunch in Curly's Pub; a visit to the EAA AirVenture Museum (one of the most extensive aviation attractions in the world) in Oshkosh, WI; an afternoon and evening exploring the historic charm of Galena, IL - via trolley car; lunch in Dodge City, followed by a visit to The Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor and Museum, housed in the historic George E. Pew building located in LeMars, IA - the Ice Cream Capital of the World (more ice cream is produced in Le Mars, Iowa, by a single company than in any other city in the world!), before reaching our destination for the night in Watertown, SD. The next morning we will tour the Redlin Art Center and enjoy lunch that is catered and packed in a Terry Redlin keepsake tin, which of course, is yours to keep. Afterwards, it will be onward and upward to Fargo as we complete the last leg of our adventure. Go to http://www.discoverymap.com/Wisconson/map-of-door-county-wisconsin.html for more information.
